Ghost in the Shell 2.0

Postby Unreal Warfare » Fri Nov 13, 2009 9:36 am

Anyone picked this up yet? I was going to pick it up yesterday but decided to gather some opinions on it first as I have the original version already.

Is it the exact same story but just remastered? Or have they thrown in some extra footage aswell?

How good is the remastering?

I'm interested in this as well. Is it bluray?

Yes it's on Blu Ray. Link

I'm going to acquire a copy of this so I'll post back with a mini review when I've bought it and watched it. If you get it before me please let me know how you found it.

No problem. I have not seen this in any of our local stores though. If I see it, I will definitely grab it.

From what I've read, it's good, but the CGI addins are unnecessary. If it's anything like Akira on blu-ray, it's a buy.

Alright guys, I have not watched the whole thing but here is a first hand analysis of the first ten minutes.

*Right off the bat, there are some new police scanner scenes. (All done in effin' fantastic CGI.)
*The Movie is completely remastered with the basic principles that made the first so successful. It blows me away with how good it looks.
*It's the same story. In fact, it's the exact same film, just completely redone. On top of the original film, you have more sequences included in the film. It's much like a director's cut on steroids.
*I admit that the switches between the heavy CG sequences can be distracting at first. However, after the first few minutes you get used to it. Perhaps in time, they will remake the entire movie with the CGI filter. As long as they don't touch the voices or the flow of the film, I will be fine.

I will post back once I get a chance to finish it.

Edit: Alright, I have finished the movie and it's still fantastic. The sound is amazing and is probably the biggest improvement aside from how crisp the picture is. I highly recommend this movie to anyone that loved the original or just likes anime in general.
